The Problem

Art and culture are cornerstones of life in Miami. However, access gaps along racial and socio-economic lines create deficits within our communities. This negatively affects our mental health and wellbeing.

Challenges

  • Losing tax incentives for poor neighborhoods
  • Covid-19 and the social and emotional effects of isolation
  • Skyrocketing rent prices contributing to the segregation of neighborhoods
  • Limited access to resources for mental health & wellbeing
  • The arts have come to be considered a luxury, and are not accessible to everyone

Mental Health & Wellbeing

The US spends $200 billion on depression each year, 70% of youth in the Juvenile Justice system have a diagnosed mental illness, Transgender folks are 12 times more likely to attempt suicide, 40% of adults have reported struggling with mental health or substance use disorders, 40 million adults are affected by anxiety disorders.
